A baby born without a skull

A baby delivered in mothers home found to have no skull after delivery. I dnt know what is the explanation for this one. If you are a medical doctor or expert in medication please share your ideas here. This could due to lack of mothers food supplements during pregnancy? or what?

I found in the internet the same story like this one below:

MULTAN: Thousands of people gathered at a private clinic to see a girl born without a skull who is still alive. “Zarina Bibi delivered a skull-less female baby weighing 7 lbs (3 kg) two days ago in my clinic. The baby has eyes, a nose, cheeks, a heart, kidneys, liver and lungs but she does not have a forehead or a skull,” Dr Khalid Mehmood Malik told reporters. He said that her brain was covered by tissue separate from the body, which came out after delivery. Dr Malik said that the abnormality might be an outcome of inter-marriage, however he said the baby could be saved by brain surgery. Dr Malik said the father of the baby, Abdul Ghaffar, brought Zarina, who was complaining about the abnormal movement of the baby, to his clinic. He said the ultrasound revealed that the baby was upside down and an operation was required. The baby was delivered after the operation on Thursday, he added. Ghaffar told reporters that he did not think the abnormality was a consequence of inter-marriage because his four other children were normal. (from dailytimereport.com.pk)

  5. This condition is called Anecephaly, a neural tube defect. It happens very early in pregnancy as the neural tube is closing to form the head, skull, and brain and spinal cord. This birth defect is caused by a lack of folate BEFORE conception, as the defect usually occurs between 23 and 26 days gestation. That is why it is so very important for women to have 0.4 mcg folate a day before conceiving and while pregnant. And babies like this can live for years. Research Nicholas Coke and Baby K if you don't believe it!

  6. It's not Anecephaly but instead Anencephaly,it is the absence of a large part of the brain and the skull. and you right that it happens very early in pregnancy as the neural tube is closing to form the head, skull, and brain. However, according to studies in order to reduce this grotesque thingy "anencephaly" it is recommended that all women of child-bearing age need to consume 0.4 mg of folic acid daily, especially those attempting to conceive or who may possibly conceive, as this can reduce the risk to 0.03%. Again it can only be reduce but cannot be eliminated.
